Walloon Lake, Michigan:

Walloon Lake is the perfect Northern Michigan vacation destination near Petoskey, Boyne City, and Mackinac Island.  The village of Walloon Lake is nestled between the Jordan Valley and the Little Traverse regions where history, culture, and nature merge into one. Walloon Lake is a glacier-formed lake just southwestward from the northern tip of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan emptying into Lake Michigan via the Bear River.

The lake itself is unique in its shape, with three “arms” and two “shores” as well as a “foot” where the downtown village exists, including its five distinct depressions or basins:

There is a small plaza that houses artisans selling crafts, apparel, home goods, and souvenirs. Clustered together next to a new bakery, the shops have become a mini destination on their own. Walloon Lake Beach is a public access beach with swimming, a basketball court, sand volleyball, and horseshoes. It's not your typical party beach but that's the point.

East Jordan, Michigan:

The city of East Jordan has a motto, "Where River, Lake, and Friendly People Meet". Located at the mouth of the Jordan River where it flows into the South Arm of Lake Charlevoix, East Jordan is ideally suited for a long stay or just a weekend getaway.
